At ATC, we are always concerned about the fragile ecosystem. Our washing bay is one of our ‘green’ initiative. In spite of carrying a capacity of washing 40 trucks per day, it’s fresh to recycling water ratio is a fantastic 73%.
We have ensured that our facilities are lit by LED lamps that save energy and costs. LED technology offers many advantages such as exceptionally longer life span (60,000 hours), enormously lower energy usage (90% more efficient), reduced maintenance costs and higher safety. With government regulations halting the production of traditional incandescent light bulbs in recent years, new options have surfaced. The first option created was the compact fluorescent lamp, or CFL. These curly fluorescent bulbs are more energy efficient and last longer than an incandescent, but the bulb contains mercury takes a while to shine at its brightest.
Some other initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint include the installation of the Adblue system in our advanced Volvo 460 FH fleet to ensure the exhaust emissions meet Euro Standard 5.
We introduced a nitrogen gas convertor which generates nitrogen converted from fresh air, which keeps tyres cool during summer months. Constant rotation of tyres to minimize wear and tear and improve the longevity which reduces the need for replacing tyres helping save the environment.
A special sound-proof rotary air compressor controls noise pollution in the workshop. We’ve switched from sulphuric acid batteries, which can spill acid and cause harm to technicians.
Today, we use calcium-free batteries that don’t require an acid top-up.
