Our Eco-conscience

At ATC, we are always concerned about the fragile ecosystem. Our washing bay is one of our ‘green’ initiative. In spite of carrying a capacity of washing 40 trucks per day, it’s fresh to recycling water ratio is a fantastic 73%. We have ensured that our facilities are lit by LED lamps that save energy and costs. LED technology  offers many advantages such as exceptionally longer life span (60,000 hours), enormously lower energy usage (90% more efficient), reduced maintenance costs and higher safety. With government regulations halting the production of traditional incandescent light bulbs in recent years, new options have surfaced. The first option created was the compact fluorescent lamp, or CFL. These curly fluorescent bulbs are more energy efficient and last longer than an incandescent, but the bulb contains mercury takes a while to shine at its brightest. Some other initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint include the installation of the Adblue system in our advanced Volvo 460 FH fleet to ensure the exhaust emissions meet Euro Standard 5. We introduced a nitrogen gas convertor which generates nitrogen converted from fresh air, which keeps tyres cool during summer months. Constant rotation of tyres to minimize wear and tear and improve the longevity which reduces the need for replacing tyres helping save the environment. A special sound-proof rotary air compressor controls noise pollution in the workshop. We’ve switched from sulphuric acid batteries, which can spill acid and cause harm to technicians.   Today, we use calcium-free batteries that don’t require an acid top-up.      ...

Allied Transport maintaining ISO standards

Mark of Excellence The journey to quality is long and enriching and we began our journey way back in December 2000, when ATC’s management system was successfully audited & certified to ISO 9001 (Quality Management) standards by BSI. Fast-forward to 2011 and ATC upgraded its management system to attain OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 4001 (Environment Management) certifications. To achieve this standard ATC had to deliver best-in-class service. ATC took ownership and responsibility of safeguarding our environment while caring for the well-being of our employees and customers. Our management system is audited every 6 months by BSI, passing our most recent surveillance audit in June. These quality goals have inspired great confidence among our customers regarding our quality, environmental management, and occupational health & safety.   ISO 9001:2008 To be awarded our ISO 9001 certification, ATC had to achieve the eight fundamental principles of quality management:                         Customer focus Leadership People involvement Process approach Systems approach to management Continual improvement Factual approach to decision-making and mutually beneficial supplier relationships OHSAS 18001:2007 18001 OHSAS certification required ATC to comply with strict processes such as: Hazard identification Risk assessment and determining controls Other requirements included an OHS program, resources, roles & responsibility, accountability and authority and legal requirements. In addition, ATC had to comply with high standards of competence, training, awareness, communication, participation, and consultation. But to achieve the certification we had to demonstrate operational control, emergency preparedness and response and of course, our performance was monitored, measured and improved upon throughout the process.
